The Council of Canadians Hamilton chapter presented a copy of Maude Barlow's book Boiling Point: Government Neglect, Corporate Abuse, and Canada’s Water Crisis to Liberal Member of Parliament Bob Bratina on May 23.


Trudeau promotes 'free trade' at G7 in Italy, prepares to host 2018 summit at Quebec resort
The Canadian Press reports, "Canada will play host to next year’s meeting of G7 leaders at a remote luxury resort in the Charlevoix region of Quebec, The Canadian Press has learned. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to make the announcement at some point during this year’s G7 meetings, which get underway Friday in Sicily."


Trudeau considers cabinet shuffle, proroguing Parliament to reset flagging agenda
The Trudeau government is reportedly considering proroguing Parliament and a cabinet shuffle as it faces the challenges of broken promises (notably the promise to implement electoral reform), a sharp drop in their leader's approval ratings, and new Conservative and NDP leaders to contend with in the House of Commons.


No Green Light for Alton Gas
As the construction season is beginning and Alton Gas workers have been appearing on site again, there has been a lot of talk about the company’s permits. A number of permits and permissions have been granted, but a number of conditions of the project have yet to be met.
