Demand animal cruelty charges be laid! r33

Dear PAOV,

The Calgary Stampede rodeo started this week. Right now, calves, cows, and horses are suffering at this cruel spectacle of animal abuse. They are forced to perform in brutal rodeo events like chuckwagon racing, calf roping, steer wrestling, and bronco riding.

One horse already lost his life. He suffered a fractured leg while being forced to pull a chuckwagon, so his owner killed him.

PAOV, it's illegal to cause distress and suffering to animals, and rodeo events aren't exempt from animal cruelty laws. There's no question that animals experience distress—from baby calves violently roped around the neck, steers brutally wrestled to the ground, to the horses who predictably die in chuckwagon races.

Please join us in asking the Calgary Humane Society to prosecute illegal rodeo cruelty!

SIGN THE PETITION

Rodeo events are inherently violent for the unwilling animal victims, yet the Stampede has never been prosecuted for illegal abuse of vulnerable horses, cows, and calves.

But public attitudes have changed: Most Canadians agree that it's not acceptable to torture animals simply for the sake of entertainment.

Please take action today to end rodeo cruelty at the Calgary Stampede—ask for charges to be laid!

Thank you for everything you for animals.

Sincerely,

Camille Labchuk
