Carving up parks for a tar sands pipeline? Not on our watch!

Parks Not Pipelines

Hi PAOV,

Kinder Morgan is not making many friends in BC these days.

Lately, the pipeline company has been making headlines for violating city bylaws and cutting down trees in a Burnaby conservation area. But that’s not all.

Kinder Morgan also wants to change the boundaries of four provincial parks in BC, all to accommodate the construction of its new Trans Mountain tar sands pipeline. They’ve requested boundary adjustments at Finn Creek Park, North Thompson River Park, Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area and Bridal Veil Falls Park (read about Kinder Morgan’s application here).

Now it’s time for you to have your say. BC Parks is currently accepting public comments about this outrageous application, which you can submit through their website here. Sadly, once again the provincial government has not made this engagement process very easy for concerned citizens like you and me.

The BC Parks website suggests that you submit your comments to Kinder Morgan, but we think that feedback about public parks should go directly to public agencies – not to private companies. So please follow the instructions on this website to provide your comments directly to BC Parks. (You’ll have to tick the box at the bottom of the page to agree to the BC Parks privacy statement before entering your submission)

For more background information about the individual parks affected by the proposed boundary adjustments, click here.

Please write today! It’s critical that we send a strong message to the government and Kinder Morgan that their plans to slice and dice our parks are simply unacceptable, and that people in BC and beyond want this short-sighted pipeline project to be stopped.

The deadline for public comments is October 12, 2014.

Visit the BC Parks website and submit your comment now >>

Thanks for taking action!
