Silver, Gold, Uranium – At What Cost?

We’ve got a really exciting event happening next week in Vancouver – and I’d love for you to be there!
The Wilderness Committee is thrilled to have been selected by Reel Causes as this month’s “Community Cause,” which means we’ll be co-hosting a documentary screening this coming Thursday, October 23rd at SFU Woodwards.
The screening will be the Canadian premiere of Uranium Drive-in, a film that looks at the many ways resource extraction and mining can affect local communities. It’s a subject that has been on a lot of our minds lately, particularly since the Mount Polley mine disaster has magnified the risks that massive industrial projects like mines pose to local water sources, wildlife and residents.
I will be speaking at the event about how the film’s topics relate to mining here in Canada and in BC. After the show, there will also be a virtual Q+A with the director, Susan Beraza.
