Friday, March 27th, 2015

Please note: Due to changed availability, we have a new focus for this Friday's Cafe Simpatico and not the previously-announced Venezuela-focused topic. Details on the new event follow.

Remembering Romero: A celebration of the life and legacy of Archbishop Oscar Romero

This week marks the 35th anniversary of the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero, a pivotal event in the struggle for justice in El Salvador.

Cafe Simpatico this Friday will celebrate the life and legacy of Archbishop Romero in a popular education style. We will sing music inspired by Romero, including parts of the Misa Popular Salvadorena (Salvadoran Popular Mass). We will read and discuss some of Romero's key writings, including his powerful and moving last sermon in which he stood steadfastly with the poor against the military oppressors. Also...

on display will be samples of the CASC poster exhibit related to Romero.

Come to learn and to share your perspectives on the meaning today of Romero's life and message.

Romero, ¡presente!
