Dear Paov,
From leading trail building expeditions to hosting public meetings to supporting Indigenous land use visions to guiding hikes to the ancient forest, we’ve had another busy summer in our campaign to protect Vancouver Island’s endangered old-growth rainforests, and we’ve got lot’s more planned this fall.

Vancouver Island was once covered in vast tracts of primordial rainforest, but now only a few pockets of intact old-growth remain. The coastal logging industry was once the main pillar of the economy, but recent decades have featured dozens of closed mills and thousands of lost jobs.
What’s causing these problems? More importantly, how can we solve them?
On Thursday, October 5th, join the Wilderness Committee and Patagonia Victoria to learn What’s Up In The Woods!
We’ll highlight our projects and then we’ll talk about our plans to continue to push for better forest management – and how you can help.
The evening will blend dynamic presentations and informal conversations, with beer and cider available and raffle prizes courtesy of Patagonia Victoria.
What: presentation and discussion on the campaign to protect Vancouver Island’s rainforests.
When: Thursday, October 5th. 7PM - 9PM.
Where: Patagonia Victoria, 616 Yates St, Victoria, BC.

The fight for the forests is complex, fast-paced, and always changing. It’s hard work, but it’s also a lot of fun. We’re passionate about re-building the forest industry in a way that protects critical species and ecosystems, respects Indigenous rights and title and prioritizes sustainable jobs for local communities.
