Dear Friend,

Your campaign to Stop Voter Suppression is making waves!

Last week, we travelled to Ottawa and delivered your 53,000+ strong petition to Parliament.
Now we’re getting ready to hold local rallies, and turn up the pressure even more.

Thank you so much to all our monthly donors for making this possible. Will you join them and help carry this work forward?

Last week, I travelled to Ottawa and delivered your 53,000+ Stop Voter Suppression signatures to Parliament. I was joined on the stage at the Ottawa Press Gallery by Craig Scott, David Christopherson and Alexandrine Latendresse from the NDP, Stephane Dion, Scott Simms, and Frank Valeriote from the Liberal Party of Canada, and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May.

We thought you’d want to know that your campaign got great media coverage on CBC, Global TV and Le Devoir.

Petitions are the beginning, a way to strengthen all our voices and launch a campaign. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Thanks to your signatures, I was invited on Power and Politics with Evan Solomon to make the case against this vote suppressing election law in front a national audience. We also penned a hard-hitting op-ed in the Globe and Mail that has been shared thousands of times.

  • Thanks to your donations, we have spent $10,000 on hard-hitting radio ads running on Conservative Committee members local radio stations.

  • Your comments on facebook and twitter are spreading the word, and making a direct impact in Parliament. The Leadnow community supported MP David Christopherson’s epic filibuster in the committee that is deciding the fate of this law. Yesterday, Christopherson read many of your comments from Facebook and Twitter out loud in the committee room in Ottawa.

It’s working. Together with the work of some of Canada’s leading citizen organizations, the Canadian public is learning about this vote suppressing election law and pressure is growing on this government.

This week, famous conservative politician and former leader Preston Manning came out against law. This is a massive turning of the tide, and proves that we need to keep up the pressure.

Now we’re getting ready to hold local rallies to take this campaign to the next level, and you’ll hear from us soon.

In the meantime, we want to say a huge “thank you” to all of our monthly donors who made this possible.

The Leadnow.ca community is only able to respond in these crucial moments because of the stable donations from our monthly donors, who give on average just $17 per month.

Would you consider joining them, and becoming a monthly donor to help the Leadnow.ca community defend our democracy and organize for real change on the issues that matter?

Yes, I'll begin a monthly donation today.

Yes, I'll make a one-time donation.

Whether you can donate $5, $20 or $50 a month, it all adds up and will make a huge difference. Thank you.

Thanks for everything you’ve done. Onwards.

With hope and respect,

Adam Shedletzky on behalf of the Leadnow.ca team
