The Guarani need your help to defend their land r33
About    Threats & Tribes    News & Resources

Guarani in Brazil will be kicked off their land unless we can persuade a judge to reverse an order that could lead to their eviction.

Apy Ka’y community have clung on to a tiny parcel of their ancestral homeland, the last remains of their once plentiful forest, now destroyed for industrial agriculture.

If they're evicted, the Indians will be left in miserable shacks on the side of the road.

Their desperation can be felt in this heartbreaking video
brought to you by Survival's Tribal Voice project.

The Guarani are fighting for their land, but it comes at a price. Damiana is a mother who has lost three sons, each one killed in their struggle. Now, gunmen have turned their attention to her.

Survival’s pressure has helped
reverse eviction orders for other communities. We can do it again for Apy Ka’y if you speak out.

The Guarani depend on you. Please take one minute to email the judge now.

Dear Judge Nunes,

I am dismayed to hear that the Guarani of Apy Ka'y community face eviction once again.

If they are not allowed to live on their ancestral land, they will be forced to live in appalling conditions on the side of the road where malnutrition and disease are rife and where some Guarani have already been killed.

Please uphold the Brazilian constitution and respect the Guarani's rights: cancel your latest order and ensure that their ancestral land is returned as a matter of urgency.

Damiana and her people must not be forced to endure further suffering and death to obtain what is rightfully theirs.

Sincerely,

Thank you for your help! Your letters and petitions help tribal peoples win recognition of their land rights, put an end to logging or mining on their land, and halt government violence and oppression.
