How we're going to stop the TPP

SumOfUs r1 ...

Hey A,

If you thought that the TPP was a done deal, you're wrong!

In just days, Trade negotiators are gathering in Auckland, New Zealand, to sign the devastating Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal. But thanks to the generosity of thousands of SumOfUs members, we're fighting back.

No matter what happens at this ceremonial signing on Thursday, the TPP still needs to overcome huge opposition in US Congress. Canada's Trade Minister has indicated that the Canadian people will need to have a say before it's ratified.

And this might not even get through New Zealand's parliament before its next election.

This week will see huge coordinated actions against the TPP -- here's what you'll be funding:

  • Greeting TPP negotiators at Auckland's airport with giant projected messages saying NO to the TPP;
  • Creation of a hard-hitting new video that will help spread the word on how we'll beat the TPP;
  • Delivering hundreds of thousands of your names directly to Australia's parliament;
  • Covering the road in front of the White House in Washington D.C. with thousands of signatures against the TPP;
  • Making sure we're able to capture fantastic videos and images of our actions to maximise media coverage of all of our actions;
  • And one more big action that we need to keep a secret so we don't spoil the surprise!
Can you donate today to say NO to the TPP?

A,

We've just heard that police are making intimidating visits to organisers of this week's TPP march.

It has a huge chilling effect on our ability to express our rights. You can fight back.

Instead of backing down, we're turning it up to 11. TPP negotiators won't be able to ignore the giant public opposition to this deal.

Your donation today will make sure our voices are heard.

Please, will you chip in to stop the TPP?

The TPP already needs to overcome huge opposition in US Congress. Canada's Trade Minister has said this signing in Auckland is just symbolic, and that the Canadian people will need to have a say before it's ratified.

We just heard that this might not even get through New Zealand's parliament before its next election.

The text of the TPP, which was only recently released, shows that the deal will drive up the cost of crucial medicines, weaken workers' rights, and put corporations on the same level as sovereign countries, allowing them to sue in special courts for laws that might reduce their profits.

In short -- it's a massive giveaway for big business.

Right now, we're building global momentum against the deal, making sure that there's a loud outcry at every stage possible so leaders realise that it's too politically risky to go ahead.

This is our first opportunity of the year to show public opposition. We have to make the most of it and stand up to this chilling police tactic.

We can't do this without you.

Already, the SumOfUs community has stood with thousands of activists in all the TPP countries to come together on multiple fronts to delay this deal beyond our wildest imagination.

The TPP is fast becoming a reality. Can you chip in to stop the TPP today?
