[Uvic-sustainability] News and Events for the Week of Nov 10th

Big news this week is the immanent municipal elections. We are happy to say that the advanced polling stations at UVic last week were reportedly well used. However, voter turnout for municipal elections is usually below 30% and so we are using this opportunity to encourage everyone to vote. These elections determine who is making decisions for our cities, and out of all levels of government, these decision makers will have the most direct effect on our lives. Local politicians make decisions on important sustainability related issues such as waste treatment, transportation, and land development and, for example, the decision to build new bike lanes in the region will have a direct effect on transportation behaviour of Students, Staff, and Faculty. What follows is a list of resources that will help reader make an... informed choice.
